Most major corporations are making record profits with fewer employees, but they’re facing higher costs, like the rest of us. Housing, banking, and the auto sectors are improving, but the economy is still struggling with many problems: high unemployment; massive deficits; high food and gasoline prices; European and global debt crisis; and emerging markets are in a slowdown, too.
While perusing the Financial Times over the past few days, I have come across several articles concerning rising issues with China. The most common theme among these articles was the growing amount of cyber theft that US officials have traced back to China. Other articles detail growing tensions between China and the US, as well as China and the EU.
A few months ago, I was fortunate enough to come across The Century Trilogy while perusing the Barnes & Noble website.
The trilogy is written by Ken Follett and currently has 2 of the 3 books published. The second book, “Winter of the World” was released just last year and is available in hardcover.
The first book of the trilogy, “Fall of Giants” is a #1 New York Times Bestseller and revolves around the happenings of five families in the early twentieth century. The families represent different countries and socio-economic backgrounds; a Welsh mining family, Russian factory workers, upper class American family, and aristocratic English and German families. As the book progresses, you discover that all of these families become interrelated through the politics and events of the Great War.
Anyone who reads the “dirt sheets” knows that WWE has been and will be making changes to its developmental system. For starters, they are creating a “finishing school” in Connecticut nearby their headquarters.
There will also be changes regarding NXT. “WWE will begin filming NXT episodes at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida, reports PWInsider.com, and the talent roster will be made up of Developmental wrestlers. Tapings are scheduled to be bi-weekly at the Full Sail Live Venue” (PWTorch). It seems this new strategy is based somewhat off of the TNA Impact Wrestling tapings in Orlando. There are benefits for doing this; wrestlers performing in front of basically the same crowd of people week after week are forced to learn new “tricks” and up their game. The college crowd should also give reasonably good reactions (pops, heat, etc) to the wrestlers. Using the apparently “state of the art” facilities that Full Sail University has can help train new production crew members. A question I have, though, is whether or not this will be replacing FCW tapings. It appears NXT will use FCW roster members, so is it instead of or in addition to?
WrestleMania 28 has come and gone. The dust has settled, and the results are in.
The winner of possibly the biggest main event in ‘Mania history, The Rock vs John Cena is…
THE ROCK! (If you Smell!!!! cue the music)
I’m kinda, sorta happy with the result. Yes, I wore a Rock shirt whilst I was watching The Show of Shows at a Buffalo Wild Wings. Yes, I chanted “Cena Sucks” during the back and forth chants. Yet, all I truly wanted was a good showing. Part of me actually wanted Cena to win.
Most people who tried to figure out the outcome from an unbiased perspective, saw Cena coming out on top.
I was one of those people!
Would it not make sense to have the man that, for better or for worse, is the face of the company to come out on top despite all the “haters” and “rise above”? Why have The Rock, although one of the greatest, win if he isn’t a full time superstar?
What does it say when the guy who hasn’t wrestled one on one in about 7 years pins your company’s main guy to the mat and picks up a clean victory?
Apparently my show has been preempted today… It sucks because I had a lot of articles ready to discuss that I took some time finding.
So, in an effort to ensure it isn’t a complete and total waste, I’ll post the articles below.
This way, you may read the ones you find most interesting and read them at your own leisure.
Please make sure to comment below so that we may have some sort of discussion on the topics.
